NIKOMAI

I chose rice for my branding project. My challenge was to introduce Japanese exclusive rice to US importers. I created the company NIKOMAI–Niko, meaning smile, and Mai, meaning Rice, in Japanese. I designed graphics that appeal to people striving for authentic Japanese quality. For example, I needed to brand assets, illustrations, patterns and textures that “feel” Japan. I drew each of the season's flowers and plants and also made calligraphy for the logo. With the logo, there is a rice plant that reflects the company's values of treating customers with the highest respect and care-just as the rice plant does with growth. Every asset has meaning for this rice branding project.
